The following is a Poem that Richard wrote for me.

You, and Jesus, Too

For me, to live is Jesus;
He is my everything.
He is my hope and comfort,
To Him my joys I bring.
And though I have this friendship,
I still need friends like you;
So I love the Lord above

July 1, 1972
What a lousy night - I could hardly sleep at all, and when I got up, I looked horrible!!! And felt as bad, so off to the doctor to get a shot - right in my rear - ouch! I asked for it in my arm, but no luck - ah well, such is the life. At least I didn't have to play the piano!

After church, Cheryle came over and she took me to the beach to clean my face with salt water (doctor's order). Then Rich came over and we took a walk around the school. When I noticed Sue, so we talked to her. Then I fixed a meal, because Rich was hungry. After that we went for a ride all over the country. It was fun, but oh my aching butt and back! We went to vespers and saw a movie. It was real good. Then I came home and Rich went to Greg's party. Here goes another lousy night.

July 2
What a leisurely day - wow, I didn't get up until 11:00 and that is late for me. When I did get up, I didn't do anything really except eat - my brother left some pizza from last night and part of an already cut cantelope. I read the newspapers. Then I straightened up my room a little and went back and took a snooze. I didn't wear my glasses today because my left eye is all swollen and they bugged me.

At 3:00, I got up to find Mike's phone number and guess what, it wasn't there, but the letter I wrote to him was - cool. I sent his letter (that he wrote to me) back to him - so he probably thought I was mad at him or something - no wonder he didn't write back - poor guy. So I wrote him an apology.

Rich's mom came to see how I was, which was very nice (I appreciated it). She said she would send Rich over to give me some medicine. Then I took a shower and washed my face in ocean water. Then Sue called and I talked to her and guess who called???!!!! Mike - Wow! I was sooo excited - oh I can't wait to see him!!!

After I hung up, Rich came driving up and gave me the medicine. He put it on for me and it felt soooo good. Then we went to the library and studied and sang and played the piano etc. It was a BLAST!!!!

July 3
I got up at 8:00 this morning- schock!! I guess because I had to water the lawn and wash my sheets and clean my room (sounds like Sunday, right?) Michele came over to visit me for awhile and while I fixed my pants, she made my bed, then swept etc. Then we went downstairs and she ate while I made a picnic lunch for Rich and I for tonight and I wanted some cherries, so I got some.

Donna sent me a card and a letter and I was supposed to go to her mom's room at school and get my birthday present, so I did, which was a mini turtle (live one). I named her Tina. It's so cute, and they will "turtle sit" for me while I'm gone.

In the afternoon, I went to Sue's - nothing better to do. Then Rich came over and we went swimming at the beach - brrr, it was cold. Then I changed and we ate my lunch - apple juice, sandwiches, cherries, and popcorn. Rich liked it. Then he put medicine on my face and we read in Psalms and watched the fireworks - it was a BLAST. I'm sure going to miss Rich.

July 4
I got up at about 10:00 and Jenny (my brother's girlfriend) was there and I didn't even hear anything. Oh well. I finished packing and cleaning up my room. Then there were some apples, so I decided to get rid of them, so I made 2 pies - one for my brother and one for Richard.

My mom had a big craft sale at the Holiday Inn, so I went there and got some real cute yellow love owls swinging on a swing for our room next year, and a turtle.

Rich called and there wasn't a meeting, but I had to take Tina over to Donna's, so he came over and we went there and had a very enjoyable visit. Rich might go back (to Tennessee) with her grandparents - and I might not ever see him again.

When we got home, we picked flowers for Oscy's grave and I showed him how to water the lawn and we looked at stars. Oh yes, he gave me a beautiful (expensive) sweater for my birthday and 2 really nice cards. Wow! I will miss him sooooo much.

July 5
We got up at the royal hour of 3:00 and I didn't want to get up, ick. The reason I got up is because of vacation - I guess I already said that yesterday - anyway we drove most all day and we decided to go to Lassen Crater Volcanic National Park (or something like that), anway it was real cool up there. I was tired so on the way down, I slept a little, I think, and it was HOT, so I woke up and with Poison Oak that isn't too cool.

In Redding, I got a smiley face waste paper basket for school next year. I looked for a wallet, but couldn't find one I liked, so I gave up. Dad got me a bunch of turtles too. Then we went to garage sales - bore! bore! We are staying at a hotel in Redding and I have a double bed all to myself - talk about luxury! Well I better write Rich a letter now. Bye.

July 6
We got up at 3:00 again this morning!! I'm writing this on the 7th, so I won't go into detail...We stopped at Crater Lake and then we went on a side trip that took us to Bend and guess whose car I saw!!! H's - isn't that cool?!

While I took a shower, mom and dad called my brother. Richard called, but I didn't get to talk to him - boo hoo! So I wrote him a nice letter. I also wrote to my brother and Michele and Donna one too.

July 7
I got up at 5:00 this morning and my dad was sick, but he got better, so we left Madras (where we stayed) at about 6:00 and arrived at Walla Walla around 10:30, where I mailed yesterday's letters and we inquired about a free room at the local college. We got one plus free meals through July 8. When we got to the motel, I called Mike and he came and got me on his Honda 360 (350?) motorcycle. It was real cool. I was so excited to see him. We left and saw his dad and he said some flowers came for me then we saw his mom and she had the flowers - from Rich - for my birthday - WOW!!!! They were really pretty - yellow mums, daisy's and blue baby's breath. I can't keep them, so I saved some baby's breath. I LOVE Rich - wow. I had a blast with Mike and we had a real enjoyable visit. I'll see him again tomorrow too.

July 8
Today I'm Sweet Sixteen. We got up at 8:00 and went to the Village Church. Luckily Mike was there, so I was with him. When his girlfriend came (she's ok) we sat down for the study service. I sat by myself during church, up in the balcony. What a huge churcyh! And the sermon was super!! I took notes for Richard.

After church, I talked with Mike for awhile, then we ate at the college. I got blueberry pie for my cake. I don't mind, because I LOVE blueberries. After we ate, I called Mike to see if I had a letter and I did! Wow! and a card too. Then we went up to Idaho and stayed at Sandpoint. It's real cool and I did have a happy birthday, even if it is raining now.

P.S. I kissed my flowers goodbye. sigh!

July 9
We left Sandpoint at about 7:30 after we ate and washed the clothes. Then we left Idaho, and are in Canada. Wow, is it ever beautiful here!!! I just love it.

Mom got sick, so we stopped at these cute log cabins, I had dad make a fire in the fireplace, then I wrote Uwe a letter and wrote cards to Cheryle, Sue and Donna and also my brother.

Then I took a shower - a HOT shower - I couldn't get the cold to turn on much - Then I ate and wrote Rich a letter. Mom and dad are asleep and it's only 6:00 and I think I am going to take a walk and then maybe I'll write Rich some more.

July 10
We got up quite early and started through the park and wow is it ever beautiful. Someone said it looks just like Switzerland, and I can believe them. It snowed last night so it was really pretty, but cold.

We stopped at Jasper and had our money changed over, it's about time. We stopped at a gift shop and I got Michele a plate from England with Castle etc. scene's on it and Cheryle and me a dwarf - really cute. We left there and traveled and stopped at a motel along the Alaska Highway.

P.S. We also stopped at Lake Louise, it was real cool and I found a book called "The House of the Running Water".

July 11
We got up at THREE O'clock - sick! I mailed all the letters I wrote and on our way, we came and we ate at Peace River, then I got to drive for awhile, but mom wouldn't let me go over 40 MPH - sick! Oh well, at least I got to drive. We stopped at this little town and I got a cup and saucer with violet's on it. Real cute. Then the paved road ended and we had to follow a dirt road - it was horrible and dirty and dusty and grimy. I read the book I found yesterday. We stopped at a town and I almost got a Uke, but resisted my temptation. We crossed the McKinsey River on a ferry and are staying in a motel now. I took a lukewarm bath - aahhh!!!!

July 12
We went to Fort Providence and I got some souvenirs at the gift shop and trading post.

The mosquites and bull flies are really bad!

The weather is really nice (about 75 degrees) adn there are lots of little ponds between the slightly dwarfted trees.

We stopped at Fort Rae and got some gas. We went to a gift shop, but everything was so expensive!!! You wouldn't believe how those poor indians have to live!

We had to go to the bathroom really bad (after 200 miles). I was ready to pop, with no place to go potty! Well, we stopped at a latrine along the way and it was really gross because of all the flies.

We finally got to Yellowknife and found B's. We were so dirty, but we couldn't find a place to stay, so we ate with B's. WE stayed in the new Medical Center building, in the basement. It was really bad because we couldn't wash. (they were having some kind of government conference there and all the hotels were full - Yellowknife had just been made the Capitol of North West Territories).

July 13
We visited the B's and looked at some of their son's art work, it was really good!

We decided to leave Yellowknife today, because of the lack of facilities. It's a really nice, small, growing city! We went shopping, and I got a really neat Parka and a bunch of other junk. Our tire had a rock in it, so we had to get it fixed.

We went to the Great Slave Lake and went potty. We started back and then we stopped at Fort Providence again. I got a bird rock sculpture (carved by the indians, a moose hair picture, and a seal fur muskrat, and some things for my friends. We stayed at a little town and I took a luxurious bath.

July 14
We went shopping and I got the Uke, but I can't tune it, oh well, it's a really good one. We also got some other stuff.

We stayed at Dawson Creek. We are kind of anxious to get back, because Richard is leaving soon.

July 15
We stayed somewhere and dad got a moose, since we didn't see any up there.

July 16
We stayed at this really neat motel by a lake. They had little boats we could use. Dad and I were going to go, but when we went down to get it, it was gone. We found out later that they used it to bring a man that had drowned back.

We stayed at Aunt Irene's (in Leavenworth Washington)

July 18
We stayed at Evelyn's in a trailer they just got. It was good to see David. We went swimming in a lake by their house. It was really fun. Their house is really a mess!!! (Olympia Washington)

July 19
We left, and I forgot my pillow. Dad left some stuff by the road where we stopped. Aunt Phoebe sent them, cause she saw them by the road and was curious - isn't that weird? It had dad's shaving stuff etc. But I never got my pillow back.

July 20
We are almost home, but we stayed in San Francisco, because it was so late and dad was tired, mom was afraid he would fall asleep.

July 21
We saw the Golden Gate Bridge, but we didn't go over it. We also went through Golden Gate Park, but it was so early, we didn't see anything.

We got home at about 9:00, but I was so tired, I didn't feel like going to church. Dad went and told everybody we were home.

Michele came over in her Honda car. I wanted to see Richard, but he didn't come over, so I went riding with Michele. We went by his house and honked. We stopped and I was going to drive the rest of the way home and Richard drove up. I was so embarassed, because I don't have my license. Well, I drove home and it was sooo good to see him! WOW! I gave him all the junk I got him and showed him all my stuff etc. etc. WOW.

July 24
We made last minute preparations for Richard leaving. We paid our bill at Henry Colwell's State Park and we went to Davenport Beach. It was really neat because nobody was there but us. I took some pictures and got some driftwood.

July 25
Richard left. Boo hoo. I went with his mom to Donna's house and her grandfather got me a present (turtle). I felt dumb. That was really thoughtful. They used to babysit me. I really like them. I sure am going to miss him (Richard).

June 1, 1972
June 1 and only '5' more days of school left. whoopie. When Cheryle came over this morning, I got all my things together because I'm spending the night at her house. After school, we had to wait for Mrs. V to take us home, and then we wanted to work on the practice set and get it finished, but we had to get the adding machine first. Anyway, that took quite awhile and it was the grand opening of K-Mart, so we went there and wow was it crowded! Even worse than Sears. I saw these hamsters for only 87 cents and I just HAD to get one. Who cares what mom says. Anyway, I got him and named him Oscy (Oscar) like the book "Summer of '42". We ate at K-Mart. It was kinda fun. We finally got started on Bookkeeping at 8:30, but I got tired at about 10:00, so I started knitting and we are getting to bed at 11:30.

June 2
We went to bed at 11:30, but we didn't get to sleep until 2:00 a.m. We had a beautiful talk, that I want to tell Richard about so bad!! But he's gone and do I ever miss him!!!! We had to get up at 7:00, so we didn't get much sleep, that's for sure. We came to my house and I hid Oscy because I'm going to see how long it takes them (my parents) to know I have him.

School was an absolute blast! Today! Mike came walking in real late with his hair cut off and everybody split (laughed), including EW. It was sooo funny. We didn't have Biology. He let us do Bookkeeping instead, which was good except I'm stuck - all the way. Richard - I need you! Help!
After school, I went to K-Mart and got a cage for Oscy. Right now he's trying to get out pretty bad and I think I'm tired, so I'll go to bed. It's 9:00 (early). I sure hope Richard made it OK - Good Night Richard, I love YOU!!!!

June 3
I had to play the piano for the Juniors again today and then I went into the Youth and nobody was there hardly. So we decided to go to the adults. It was OK, I guess. Pastor M gave the sermon on marriage and love. It was pretty good. I sure wish Richard could have been there though. I sat in the balcony and it was empty, because everybody was at MBA because of graduation, etc.

After church, I asked Pastor M for a copy of that poem he gave us the other day, and he said OK. At about 4:00 I called Sue. I mean Sue called me, and we went down to the beach, and we saw Pastor M. Anyway, we climbed around on the rocks etc. and got crabs and starfish, etc. Then we went home and went to Ed's party. It was really a weird one, but I love their house! I didn't get home until about 12:15. Zonk!

June 4
Today was rather busy. I got up quite late, because I went to bed so late last night. When I got up, I started cleaning my room, because the thought of Bookkeeping made me sick. At about 10:00, I finally got started on the lawn. At 11:00, Michele came over and she helped me a little, and I gave her a bunch of stuff. Michele really liked Oscy. Altho' he slept all day. My mom and dad found out I had him last night, because his exercise wheel kept squeaking - it kept me awake too, so I oiled it.

I rearranged my room a little, but not much. Ed and Steve called and asked me about Bookkeeping and I said they were crazy if I had done anything on it (Ed has called me before). I finished one slipper forRichard, by the way, he's on his way home - I don't know what time he'll get here , but I sure hope he makes it - because I LOVE HIM.

June 5
This is the beginning of the last week of school. Only 3 days left! It was a very boring day of school - really. But what can you expect for the last week? In Biology, Mr H gave us an open book test, which I am grateful for. In PE we had to play a game and we lost, as usual.

After school, I did Biology till I got tired of it, and then I took a shower and played with Oscy. Then I was getting all uptight about seeing Richard. I couldn't stand it (because when I looked out the window and saw Bill (Richard's brother that just graduated) I got all shook - because Bill wasn't supposed to even come. So I walked to Sue's and back and Richard came over and was I ever glad to see him!! Even if he did get his hair butchered. We stayed up and did Bookkeeping and talked until 11:30 etc. etc....

June 6
Two more days of school left and the final tests are starting to come! An all morning one in Geometry. I got a B on it, which I thought was good, considering the subject. During lunch break, some of us were trying to study and Otis comes in and starts bugging us to death - it made me soo mad!!! But he finally left. In PE it was our turn to play on the bars and was it ever fun! But oh my aching hands.

After school, I did Bookkeeping and more Bookkeeping until I was sick of it. So I studied Religion and English and then I went downstairs and the boys were listening to records and Richard called and they wouldn't let me talk to him or anything and I was sooo mad! So he called later. We didn't have a meeting because of finals, etc. and he couldn't come over so G.N. (good night)

June 7
Well, I can't find my pen - but what do you expect when it's 1:30 a.m. so this is really June 8 (this entry is written in red ink). I'll explain the situation later. We got our annuals (yearbooks), so we went around and had everybody sign them - I think they're a little bit better than last years. We had our final in English and I'll bet I flunked! But I got 103 over 105 in Religion - very good! I was so surprised! But in Bookkeeping, I was stuck all the way - the work sheet was all wrong! and nothing worked out - so we all gave up. I know I flunked Biology, but who cares?

After school, I did nothing and we (Richard and I) went to prayer meeting in SC and we stayed until everyone left and then we held hands and walked up the middle aisle and prayed - it was cool. Then we did Bookeeping until it was all finished 1:30 a.m. - sick z-z-z-z-z-z.

June 8
Cheryle came over and woke me up and we had our last breakfast together!

THE LAST DAY!! I'm sad, but I'm also glad. All morning was track and field day, so I ran around and got autographs. then I bugged Steve. Poor guy, but I won't be able to bug him anymore, sigh. I think I'll cry. Now let's not get emotional!

In the afternoon, I brought Oscy to school and he had a blast. In chapel, I got a typing honor. We didn't have to have a bookkeeping test!! Oh WOW!! At 2:00, I left and I didn't even say bye to Steven - it makes me feel rotten. Donna almost started bawling too.

After school, I started cleaning up my room some more and Richard called and we went to graduation and Bill was there. Oh wow - is he cool - but I think Cindy N likes him - sick and Donna was SO mad at her because she was with Larry and it's so funny!! Richard came over and had strawberries.

June 9
Hey, I found my pen! What a busy hectic day! I had to get up at 7:45 and go to MBA to register for school next year. Michele went with me and I have a FULL schedule next year. I didn't see about a job or anything, because Mr. W was gone. Pam G worked it out for us - after that, we went to the berry farm but they don't need any more pickers - so I'm going to be bored to death all June.

After I got home, I finished up my room and does it ever look empty, and clean for once. I don't keep my room messy, but not perfect either. Richard called and then he made me talk to Bill and then Richard, and I was all mixed up! Then later Bill called, and I talked to him because Rich was busy. They had a little meeting at Arvie's. Only four people. Otis, Bill, Rich, and me - the only girl. Arvie was at PUC. But it was fun. Then we took Bill home and they made me try to drive - it was sick and Bill didn't want to go in because his mom was with an old man - so I brought them to my house and fed them some of the strawberry pies I made - they liked them OK. By the way - I fixed supper too. So now I'm zonked and it's after 11:00 - good night!

June 10
What a day!! I got up and went to church and played the piano for the Juniors. The Youth class was pretty full because of MBA. Wally and Loretta gave their testimony and they took the whole time - it was really good!! I sat with Richard and Bill in church and Mr H had the sermon - it was about David and it was OK.

After church, I ate and then Rich called and mom and dad let him borrow our car - and we went to singing bands. It was OK. Then Rich and I went to Jim A's house and visited with him for awhile, then we came to my house and had strawberries - Oh yes, we called Sue and she joined us, then we went to the beach and had a blast! Then we went to the S church social at the campgrounds and it was an absolute blast - but guess who broke a (? can't read my writing!)? me of course. We had Rick's car then and we had Bill and Sue (come with us) up to "our place" and then we drove around SC for awhile. It was really fun and afterwards Richard said he was hooked on me for sure.

June 11
My dad came in at 8:00 and woke me up and was I ever mad! He put the hoses etc out so I got up and watered the lawn. Then Cheryle called and wanted to go on a hike and I said "forget it". Then I sat out and caught some bugs for a collection - now that I don't need it - maybe if I turn it in late I'll still get a grade? Then I cleaned out Oscy's cage and watered my african violets.

This afternoon I was real rambunxious to cook, so since we had a lot of apples with nobody around to eat them, I baked a pie. While that was baking, I played tennis against the wall and these 2 boys picked up the balls for me. I was hot and icky from tennis so I took a shower and ate (the pie was delicious, even if I must say so myself). Then I went to Sue's and we watched TV until 11:30 or so.

June 12
I wanted to sleep in today since I haven't been getting much sleep lately, but mom came in and played with Oscy and then she told me to clean up the kitchen and gave me instructions etc. So I got up and started cleaning the kitchen - man, what a job! I got tired fast and quit at noon and went out to look for bugs. Then I read and put up a real good picture of Jesus on my wall. Then I took a nap, and while I was doing that, Richard called and asked me to play tennis and I agreed. In the meantime my mom was getting all riled up over my brother and Ray - wow - was I glad to get out of the house.

We went to the tennis courts at SC. We played from 7:45 - 9:15 - it was a blast, but it got dark and since we weren't tired, we decided to go to the boardwalk. We got an all night pass - where you can go on any of the rides for as many times as you want until 11:00 for a special price. It was a BLAST. I haven't had that much fun in a long time. Only thing is I kept squashing poor Richard and he wouldn't let me hold onto the ride - At 11:00 we went on the Ferris Wheel and we were the only ones on it and Richard nodded to the operator to stop and he stopped us at the top to kiss - but we didn't and it was so funny!!! We went on every ride, except for 2 and the only reason we didn't go on those is because we ran out of time. Afterwards, he didn't want to take me home, so we went to the lookout and gazed at the stars - and- each other- well, it was 12:00 when we left and I bawled him out all the way home - poor guy!

June 13
My diary was on loan today, so I used a piece of paper and now I will recopy what I wrote on that. Richard wanted to read my diary - so I let him.

Today mom came in early and was talking to Oscy etc. and woke me up, then she was telling me all the things I have to do today, so I got up and started cleaning up the kitchen again. Mom came home at noon and stayed, because she wasn't feeling well, so I plugged away at the kitchen until 2:30, till I was finished, but I was dog tired, so I fixed some popcorn and talked to mom and played with Oscy. Then Rich called and then Michele called and gave me an offer for 2 jobs, which I am very grateful for. Then Richard called again, about the prayer meeting, and he asked me to have Pizza, but I said no. Then I played tennis until Richard and the group came and had the meeting. I decided to go to bed early 9:30 - z-z-z-z-z-z.

June 14
I took my books to Mrs F to sell and my bug collection to Mr H (for Biology) even if it is a LITTLE late - but mom made me - so what could I do?

Dad came in at 7:00. Oh was I mad. He wanted me to get up and water the lawn, but I wouldn't, so I got up at about 8:30 and then I started to water the lawn, and I vacuumed the steps and started to clean the stove and was it ever filthy - you wouldn't BELIEVE!! That took most all day - Then I made some banana cake, because we have so many bananas and don't know what to do with them. I took a shower and ate. Richard called and we had to go to a committee meeting for a SAYU talent program at 6:30 and at 7:30 I had to play the piano and Richard had song service for prayer meeting at SC. Then Richard was telling me all about this diary and Bill was bored, so we sent him home and I gave Rich some cake. He loved it and so did Bill (he had to pick us up) and I gave him some. He liked it - shock - because he thinks he is such a "superior" cook. We went to Rich's and read this (diary) and sent Bill out, but he came in at 11:00 and started getting undressed, so we left and talked at my house until 12:00 and Ray etc. was bugging me - funnee..

June 15
Oh the luxury of sleeping in!!!! I got up at 9:30 and ate quite a large breakfast. Then I went to Ray's shoe repair shop and visited Michele. Yesterday, I forgot to tell you about my job! I'm bookkeeper for Ray and the shop. Well, I stayed there for a couple of hours and then I went to Sue's and she wasn't even up yet and it was after 1:00!! And I thought I was lazy. Good grief. I left after awhile and read this (diary) from where we left off last night until the end and then I went to sleep. At 5:00, I heard mom, and later found out she had the afternoon and Friday (tomorrow) off, so I got up and ate and listened to records and then we went grocery shopping and I saw daddy H and we talked etc. Then we came home and Ray brought "Tommy" "The Who" back, and I listened to it through. It takes a couple of hours - but I love it and missed it!!!! Nighty Night. 10:05.

June 16
My dad decided to start mowing the lawn at 7:30 this morning and was I ever mad. Then mom came in, so I got up. She wanted me to go do some things for her that took all morning. Then I had to clean the living room etc. and mom payed me $10 for everything.

I finally wrote Donna and David a letter. This afternoon we went to the Cheese Factory and on the way we saw an accident happen. A truck turned over - it was weird. Then we went to the Drug Abuse Center and they have tapestry's for $55. Real good - so Donna and I might get one - I have to find out how big the rooms are first though.

I played the piano this afternoon from 7:30 until 9:00 - wow - it was fun though. Then Rich came over and got his coat and left. He doesn't know it, but I think I'm mad at him - he had to practice his Sax.

June 17
Everybody got up so late this morning, so we rushed around and I ended up with my brother in Ray's VW, which isn't too cool. I played the piano for the Junior's and Michele listened to me. Then we went in the Youth room and Michele sat on one side and Sharon on the other. Rich was playing his Sax, and when he came in he had to sit by himself. Hee Hee. That's not nice. Then I sat in the balcony while he played and then he sat with me upstairs.

After church was blah - I didn't do much of anything. Then dad went to communion, but I didn't want to, so I stayed home. Then mom and dad went shopping, but they wouldn't let me go because of Rich - who was supposed to come over - I wanted to go shopping, but being with Rich is better. He came and then Ed called and asked me to play tennis and Steven will be there! I'm so excited, I probably won't be able to sleep!!!! Richard and I caught up on all the news while he held me - it was fun!!!! But I sent him home at 11:00 because he has to work tomorrow.

June 18
I got a letter from Donna and I wrote her one back!! I got up fairly early this morning because I couldn't sleep good, because I rested so much. On top of that, I got a kink in my neck. Well anyway, I got up and watered the lawn and washed mine and my brothers sheets and gave dad his father's day gift - a terry cloth shirt to wear on the trip. Then Michele came over and we were coloring in our "Peanuts" book. Then Ed called and said to come and Michele wanted to come too, so we got on my little putt putt bike, with me on the handle bars and her leg power and we started off - you should have seen the looks people gave us - it was funny!

After we got to the courts, we had to wait about 20 minutes for the boys to come, then we got a court and started warming up and this guy came up and wanted to play doubles - so we did for awhile until Steven's dad came. Wow what fun, except I was on Ed's team - but that was fun too. Ed and I played until about 3:30 and we were real tired, so we just sat and had a very enjoyable chat and he gave me a bunch of candy - sigh. Then his mom came (Oh Michele didn't want to play - so she just watched until her mom came).

I went to Long's and got my brother a belt for graduation (real cool) and some photo album pages. Then I went to Sears to get some yarn, but they didn't have the right kind, so I left. Oh yes, at the tennis courts, I saw Bill and I waved, but I guess he didn't see me - I think he was going to Bev's. The belt I got for my brother was too big, so I had to take it back and exchange it. He liked it lots. Well, that's about all that happened today.

Mom kept coming into my room this morning, so I asked her what she wanted and she goes "don't you know that VBS (Vacation Bible School) starts at 8:30?" And I go, "what?" And she goes "Yes". It was 8:00, so I got up and rushed around, because I thought it started at 9:30 or so. When I got there I had to start registering the students and then work in crafts until 12:00 - what a hectic deal - wow!!

When I got home I had to clean the upstairs. Then I started making a dress. I have a lot of sewing to do, and such little time to do it in. I read in the Bible and then I made a dress for my doll. Then Leland P came over and wanted to see the gym for the thing on Sunday and he said I had to do the art work for it - sick and Mrs R hasn't said anything to me about it. Rich came over to give me a book for the meeting tomorrow night and that's all - he had to go to a corn roast, so I have hardly seen him at all. Well gotta go - it's 10:10.

June 20
Got up early to go to VBS. It was hectic as usual, but I enjoy it. In the afternoon, I started a dress (the one from my banquet dress (the one with Steven)). I studied the lesson for tonight and ate etc. Then Richard came and we went to the meeting and Bill kept on bugging me and it was making me sick. After the meeting, I asked Rich if he would help me put the backdrop up for the program on Sunday and he said yes, so we worked on that until 1:30 a.m. and I'm zonked. Richard is sure a HONEY!!! WOW!!!!

Mrs. L picked us up for VBS and it was rush, rush all day. We are making flowers now and what a mess and I was tired from last night. When I got home, I had to water the lawn, and while I did that I worked on my dress some more and then I worked on a jigsaw puzzle. After I ate, I decided to take a quick shower, so I did. Rich called while I was in the shower, so he talked to my mom (help!!) until I got out, then I talked to him. He wanted me to go to prayer meeting at SC, but I wanted to go to S - so I did (I told Cheryle to come too), but they didn't have one because of VBS, so we got in her truck and we went to SC and Rich was surprised to see us , but he came and sat by me. Then we left and I helped Leland cover bottles for the program Saturday night.

Had to get up early again to help at VBS. Thank goodness it's Friday!!! After working all morning Mrs. R, the lady that cleans the church, reminded me that I was to help her clean, so I was vacuuming and Sue didn't come, so I called her, so she came, so we worked until 3:00. Then we left and I got some yarn and thread (spending all my money!). And then we were looking around at Hart's and I saw this real cool material for pants - it's soft - real boss-o. It was on sale for 99 cents a yard, so I got 1 1/2 yards of blue - so my pants only cost $2.09 to make - far out!!!

Rich called and we went to Arvie's and "shot the bull" there until 11:00. And I went out and was talking to Alice - she's really pretty cool - not what I had her as being (in the (my) mind) we talked about Rich some until he came.

June 24
Well, I had to play the piano for Juniors again - didn't do too bad. Michele came and wanted me to talk, but Rich was waiting, so I persuaded them to sit with me. I sat with Rich in church and the VBS kids sang the opening song 'Jesus Loves Me'. Then Pastor M gave the sermon - a story for the kids on Moses, it was pretty good. After church Mom invited Rich home for dinner, so he was playing his Sax for us and I took some pictures of him - Then we went to Big Basin and took a hike. We were supposed to be back at 5:00, but we didn't get back until 6:00 - cause we got lost. It was a blast!! And on the way back, I was laying my head down on his lap and that was groovy. After sundown vespers - a good program- we had to set up the gym for the program tomorrow - What a job!!!

I got up at the leisurely hour of 9:00, I believe. I don't know, because I think my watch stopped. Well, I got up and watered the Dorcas lawn and Mrs. P paid me - good!! Because I was broke! While I did that, I cleaned my room and Oscy's cage - I think he is sick. Maybe something we fed him? I don't know, but I hope he gets over it.

I finished the green dress I started, so I could wear it tonight and also made my pants - LOVE them!! Except one of the buttons broke, and I had to use different buttons.

I took a shower and Rich came over - he was wearing some of Bill's clothes and he looked SUPER !! I'm going to have to get some pictures. Well, we went over to the program and it wasn't very organized really, but it was good anyway. A shame not too many people came. Hocus Pocus was there!! I remember him - wow! Rich had to play for the program, so I had to be back stage and be his self confidence and hold his hand etc.!! It was fun though. Afterwards Rich gave me some flowers and we took his mom home, then we went to help clean up, which wasn't much fun with a dress on!! So I had Rich take me home - It was a BLAST!!!

VBS again - oh ick - but only 3 more days - whoopie!! I really didn't do too much today, but I was tired, but that's no excuse because Mrs R didn't get in until 2:30 a.m. this morning. Poor lady.

After I got home, I ate spaghetti left over from last night - we have so much - it'll be running out of our ears! Before you know it. I read some from THE Book and fell asleep until 6:30 when Rich called - so I sounded wide awake for him, I bet!! ha ha. Well, the reason he called was to play tennis. I agreed, so we went to the high school and they were full, so we went to UCSC and we actually found the tennis courts! Anyway we went back to SCHS and Bill dropped us off, but we couldn't play because of lessons and we didn't have a car so we went to the High School and messed around until 8:00 and we played until 9:00 when Bill came and I made Rich go home and to bed - hopefully. Now - what about me?

June 27
Got up early for VBS. It was kinda boring because it seems like all the kids already know what they're doing.

I crochet some this afternoon and Rich called and said he was off work for the rest of the day, so he came over and geve me a book to study, etc. Then I painted mom's ceramics all afternoon. I hope she's happy now. Oscy is real sick and I hope he gets better. I cleaned out his pen etc. because he has diarrhea - P. U.!!!!

Rich and the group came and we had the meeting - it was ok. Then Rich stayed until Bill came and picked him up.

I'm getting SICK of writing in this stupid book!!

June 28
The last day of crafts and VBS - for me anyway. So Mrs. R was generous and let us take home all the craft stuff we wanted to, so I did. After I got home Oscy was dead - it was so sad. I found a box that fit perfect and I wrapped him all up and put him in that and gave him a funeral and a grave with flowers and a cross. Then I took a picture of it. Boo Hoo.

Then I started making the birdhouse and Rich called and was off work, so he came over and we goofed off and I had him bake a cake, etc. and he stayed for supper and we went to the swamp and it was ick and I told Richard I was leaving, so I left and he stayed , so I went home and I had to call Greg - and Donna - but I didn't get to talk long enough. Then my aunt gave me a birthday present $16.00. Wow! She's not going on the trip with us because she is going to Illinois with Ms Z - a sort of relief, but I suppose I am getting used to her, even if she does bug me and get on my nerves sometimes.

Then Bill called and wanted to know where Rich was ??? Then he came walking in - so I talked to him for a long while, poor Richard!!!!! But now I feel a little bit resentful towards him and I don't know why????

P.S. I get another Oscy because mom said it was her fault that he died.

Guess what I have? Poison Oak - ick!! From that stupid swamp and it's all over my face - now won't I just look grand for Mike? Sick.

I got up at 8:00, but I didn't go to VBS because they didn't work on crafts or anything, so I went to visit Michele. She was lonely because Ray is gone. So I took pity and visited her. At noon we went to her house and back again. After awhile I left and finished Richard's birdhouse and I took a shower and Michele called and wanted me to go to a movie, but I went to the VBS graduation instead. Michele came over and gave me a birthday present "Wild Meadow" spray cologne. I like it a lot. I saw all my old friends. Cool.

Mom just told me she is going to give me $150 for the trip - wow!

If I thought I had poison oak last night - you should see it now!! All over my face and lips and its starting to ooze all over - ick.

I had to help Ranele clean the church this morning and afternoon and was it ever HOT - with poison oak - ick. We were through at 1:30, so I got Rich a bird for the bridhouse I made him and a baby tee shirt for my doll, then we went to Harts and I got a real cool pants pattern - a sailor one with flaps down the sides and we walked home, but my brother came by and gave us a ride on his putt-putt.

When Michele came over we picked a song for special music tomorrow. I have to play for them and me looking like I do - ick!! Rich came and I went with him to Arvie's and Cheryle came and we went to the beach - Fun - now I'm going to bed.

I can't think, so I won't write. Sorry about that.

May 2
School was fairly normal today, and thus it was boring. I was also very tired and wished I could go home, but of course that was impossible. After school, I had to go with Mrs. R and some other kids to a wildlife thing in Scotts Valley to help move some stuff. Michele was there too, so it wasn't too boring. I got four unused good patterns that were donated to them, and also some records. Not bad. Then they took our pictures for all the newspapers - sick. For the W paper, and SC and the County paper - also in the Recorder. I looked awful in all of them. Oh well.

When I got home, I was just getting ready to take a shower and Richard called. I was so happy, oh wow. Anyway, we had a nice chat - then I took my shower and read in the Bible, etc. It's nearly 9:00 and I'm half asleep - so I'll hit the bed and go to sleep. And I bet I'll sleep good tonight.

Oh - right after school, I was standing by the gate and Steven wanted to go by, but I just stood there, so he smiled real big and took my shoulder and gently moved me aside, then he said bye to me first - wow!!! That was a beautiful experience. Oh my muscles keep twitching and I can't figure out why!

Today was a big field trip. We left at 9:00 and almost missed Sue, but not quite. Steven didn't come. I guess because his friend Steve got out of school and they played racketball all day. We went to Monterey, first to Fisherman's Warf and then to most all the historical places. Then we rode on the bus through Cannery Row to the Monarch butterfly place - I don't know what it is called - to eat and then since everybody wanted to, we went to a park called "Dennis the Menace Park", and man that made the whole day! We got there and we went on all the toys and I took a bunch of pictures (finished the roll - 12 exposures). It was really fun though.

After we got back, I took a shower and started to finish a stupid dress I started and then I went to Prayer Meeting with Richard and then we talked - beautiful.

May 4
Richard called and asked me for dinner at his house and since I didn't like what we were having, I said OK. So I got dressed up in the Raggedy Ann (print) dress I just finished making so Richard could see it. We had pancakes that his mom made and they were very delicious. The last one - the one for dessert, had a scoop of ice cream with caramel on top - very good. Then I went in his room and we talked and studied until 11:00, when I had to go. His mom's friend named George was there and they were laying on the couch together and Richard didn't want me to see, so he put his arm around me, etc. Then when we got in the car, he kept asking me what was wrong and it was making me kinda mad, but I'll live. It's 11:30 now, so I'll go. (I am thinking that the reason I may have been upset about this incident is because I felt that Richard was embarassed or ashamed of his mother)

May 5
Today was an average day in my life - how's that for a start? What is a normal day like? Well, I got up at 7:45 and wore the Raggedy Ann dress I made yesterday to school. Donna and Cheryle came over to visit with me before school and we had a nice chat while I cut out the material for some pants I am making for the school picnic on Wednesday. Then we all went to school together and sat around and talked until the bell rang and we still sat around and talked because Mr Mc was late for class. Two people were absent. Steven and Yvonne. Sue came late and we had worship, then English, then Geometry, then Religion, then Chapel, which was a couple of movies, one of which I have seen before, then lunch break and I cut some more of my material out, then I grabbed an apple and went to school. Then we had Bookkeeping and I had some very delicious almonds supplied by Cindy T. Oh yes, Mr Mc has a new policy - no gum chewing. If we don't chew gum we get 80% of the highest score in Geometry and English. Not bad. OK in Biology, I took George apart some more and learned that it was George after all. Mr. H cut his (George's) stomach open and he had crayfish claws inside - cool.

After school, I finished cutting out my material, and then I read in my Bible, etc. and dad called and Mr. Mc wanted me to correct papers for him, so I did that for awhile and ate and showered and Richard and Sue and Marla and Richard and Marla kept calling. I went to Arvie's meeting and then we went to Cheryle's for strawberries and Richard carried me to the car - I was so embarassed. And he took me home and we talked and he said some beautiful things. May 6
Oh man, I am so tired! Richard went to S for church and I went to SC. The reason he went there was because he had to have special music. The VHM girls sextet gave the program for Church and it was pretty good. After church I was resting and Richard called and said he was coming over. I said fine. When he got here, I took him to the school and showed him George and then we decided to go to his house so he could change. I had my bike, so we decided to go on a bike ride - so we went to Mark P's and borrowed his bike and we rode up Old SJ Road for miles and miles and I don't know how far, but I was tired. Then we went to the campgrounds and meditated and rested for awhile. Then we went through this tunnel and I scraped my head all up. It was almost 8:00 when we got to Richard's. We had orange juice and he brushed my hair etc. Then we went to see the movie "Summer Magic" (The third time I've seen it). I don't mind though because I love it and I had a triple blast today!!!!!!!!!!!

May 7
I got up at 9:00 this morning because I had so many things to do. First I washed my sheets and my brother's sheets and while I did that, I cleaned up my room and did my homework and corrected papers for Mr Mc. Then I made up my bed and started making my pants and I finished them, but they are miles too big - so I guess I'll have to take them up - sigh.

I took a bath and took care for my head - ouch it hurts bad - but I had to wash my hair. I had a little extra time, so I decided to write down my ideal husband, because Richard requested it - but I couldn't think, so I gave up, and went to Long's and picked up my pictures of the field trip. Wow they all turned out - and super!!!! I also gome some African Violet food and potting mix. Then I went to Sue's until now -11:30.

May 8
I am writing this by candle power tonight because just as I walked in the room, my lightbulb went out, which happens every now and then. I like it this way though - I should do it more often - I remember - I used to, but that was a long time ago.

School was blah as usual. Out of charity, I guess, Cheryle bought me a candy bar - my favorite (Baffle) it tastes just like fudge, and I Love fudge.

After school, I fixed my pants and did my homework and took a shower and ate and Cheryle came over (because of Pathfinders) and told me that Richard said to say "hi", so I said "hi" back. Then my mom wanted to go to the library and we stayed - bore - until it closed at 9:00, so I missed Richard, sigh! I wanted to show him the pictures. Maybe tomorrow??????

Oh man, I didn't want to get up this morning. I was so tired. In Religion, we had a test and I only missed three, which is very good - for me anyway. I didn't get to study during study hall because I had to correct papers and afterwards he paid me $1.50 for three hours. I guess that's not too awfully bad, considering it's not hard work.

During lunch, I was cold, so I wore Steven's coat. I guess he didn't mind. I swear, I cannot get him off of my mind and it makes me SICK.

After school, I read in my Bible, etc. and then I was sleeping and Richard called, so I can imagine how I sounded. Dead. Sue wanted me to go to her house to watch the Junior Miss Pagaent, so I did. It was pretty good, but we watched some other things too, so I'm getting to bed late - 11:30 - sigh.

May 10
I woke up at 7:45 this morning and then only because Cheryle came over. Today was the school picnic and I wore my new pants. I thought it would be boring, and it was a little, I guess. First of all we went and played on the kids things and then we (Cheryle, Sue and I) decided to watch the baseball game for awhile. We sat by Steven, because he was alone. His friend Steve was to come, but that's later. I got tired of that, so we went to the dugouts and GJ and we were fighting and I jumped off the dugout and my pants caught in a nail and rrriiipppp. I was so mad, because I can't fix them, and I had to wear a coat all day - sigh.

After waiting in line for lunch - I had a big HUGE meal - which I ate too much of. Steven was waiting for Steve and I was waiting and hoping I could see him - he came, but I didn't get to see him well enough to see what he looked like. Sigh. Then they took off someplace. We were all full, so we laid out in the sun and watched the game from the roof of a building shed type thingie and I got a great burn. Then I started taking pictures of everybody and finished off my film.

After school, I took a shower and cut a pattern out, and tried to fix my pants, and then I read in the "Good Book". I didn't eat supper because I was so full. I picked Ricky up because his mom is gone and also Cheryle and we went to prayer meeting. I guess it was ok.

May 11
Das vas zer hot today. Very hot and it still is!!!! Donna and Cheryle came over this morning and showed me her Wawona pictures. I'm making a reprint of Steve and Ed playing chess - it's really good and one of me on the rafters of the cabin.

In study hall, I had to correct papers. In Biology we had a test on the parts of the human body. I didn't do too bad. In PE we played baseball, and I had to pitch (I'm usually catcher) and I did a very good job and when we got up, I hit the ball really good and made it to 3rd base!! For me, that's super fantabulous.

After school, I read and since it is so hot, I had to water the lawn. Mom then came home and we ate and then I fixed my patch. Oh but wait - mom and my brother saw Richard walking home today - poor guy. Then we went shopping and I got a bunch of junk - including two blouses. It's about time. Then I went to Long's to take my film in and I saw Cheryle and she showed me the Camporee pictures. Not bad.

May 12
Oh, I felt miserable all day today with this rotten cold I had to go and pick up. It was really hot today again and I didn't feel like doing much. In chapel, Dr. S (Dentist) gave it on dental care again and everybody was flossing their teeth.

During lunch, I played ping pong with Ed and he asked me to play tennis with him on Monday. In Biology we cut George up all the way and found all his parts, etc. Poor George.

After school, I took and shower and sewed Stevens coat up. (he's been gone and he left it, so I decided to borrow it and to pay for borrowing it, I sewed it up - it was ripped). Then I started cooking a roast for tomorrow, a cake (Passover chocolate), and supper. While I was frosting the cake, Richard called and I went to his house and we walked to the church and Michele took us to H's. I felt rotten, so afterwards Rich was babying me and he put drops down my nose and made me lay down, and drink some water, and he rubbed my feet, etc. WOW, that's the life. Then Alice took me home and I went to z-z-z-z-z-z.

May 13
I felt much better this morning after my gargle and cold pill and nasal spray etc., etc. I got all fixed up for church and we picked Rich up and we went to church. I had to play the piano for the Juniors and also special music. After church Rich came over and mom and I fixed up the dinner and we all ate and everybody liked the food. Then we went to the school, and I showed Rich my trophy (that I won first place for in a special drill down at a Pathfinder fair a couple of years ago). Then we went to the get the mail at the Post Office. We then walked to Arvie's. He wasn't home, so we walked to the church. On the way we saw Cheryle, but she didn't see us. We waited at the church. We gave up and then Cheryle went by again, but she still didn't see us, so we went and looked through this plant nursery (that was closed). Then we walked back to Arvie's and then called around. They were at Loma Prieta. So dad picked us up and Richard walked to Cindy N's parents house to practice his Sax with Dr. N. He told me to get some rest - so I sacked out. I was supposed to go to vespers to give him his books, etc., but I was dead until Cheryle called and we talked and at sundown, I went and got mom a book/card for Mother's day (I'm also fixing her dinner). Then I just sat around and listened to records until now, 10:00. Richard went with the N's to MBA to hear a band concert. Sigh. I don't know why I bother.

May 14
Wow, what a good night's rest I had. I got up at 9:00 and started cleaning my room etc. then I watered the Dorcas lawn, and made a pair of shorts with a bib (like a skooter skirt). They are really cute, but a little bit tight in the waist, so I think I'll take them out a little. In the afternoon, I read Nehemiah and studied, etc. Then I took a shower and put on some records and started supper. Richard came over at about 5:00 to give me my bike and I had my mom get the door because I was busy and my mom is mad at Richard because she doesn't like his attitude or something dumb like that, so I can't go out with him, unless he asks permission from my mom, etc. and it makes me sooo mad! But I like him anyway. The reason I fixed dinner is because of Mother's day. My brother was gone, but he sent some real pretty flowers. We a had real nice Mother's day dinner.

After lunch I walked to Sue's but she was gone, so I came home and then she called and I told her I would stay home and try to get to bed early. I was knitting some booties for my dolly and Rich called and we talked about a prayer group and then we hung up and I went on knitting and he called again about the same thing and my mom was getting soooo mad. Too bad for her though!

May 15
What a day! But just another Monday, if you know what I mean. Steven came to school and he saw me with his coat and he got a little mad - but not too much. He didn't even notice that I had sewed up the rip. Well, maybe he noticed, but he didn't mention it.

After school today, Ed and I went to play tennis, we rode our bikes to S and luckily it was open, so we played a round - he won (of course) 4-6. By that time it was 5:00 and we left. I went to Long's, but the film wasn't in - MAD!

A little neighbor girl came over while I was knitting booties for my dollie and we had a nice chat. Then my mom wanted me to go with them to Cheryl's grandmother's garage sale. So I went. And I picked a GREAT huge rose and when I got home, I put it in Richards car, and he came over and we had a nice visit until 11:35 - wow!

Steve W's birthday today (my old honey!)

Oh man, so much has happened lately, that I haven't gotten to bed until real late, and I guess that's why I haven't written. I'll give a little summary though. On Tuesday night, Richard had a praise and prayer group in the 10th grade room and afterwards we took Donna home to W, that night was a BLAST! WOW!

Last night I went to prayer meeting and Papa H was out of the hospital so he came. Oh yes, during lunch yesterday, Charlene F, the music teacher, gave a youth meeting in the library, it was ok. I am also getting the highest grade in Geometry (shock). I took a test in Trigonometry, and I only missed one! Very good! Mr. H was in a bad mood, so he made us all take a test over ALL the parts of the human body and I was soooo mad!!!! Anyway, as I was writing, after prayer meeting, Richard helped me with my Bookkeeping - good.

Now for today.... The 18th, Oh man, what a rotten day!!!! Steven came to school today and I cut him down all day and felt rotten while I did it. In the gym they have some swing rings (gymnastic rings) and everybody was playing on them. I think they're cool!! After school, I read and cut out some material (from my banquet dress, the Thanksgiving one). I'm making a cute dress for me and my doll out of it. I have all my material out because I'm sorting it out - so my room's a mess. Ricky called tonight and asked me what I was doing about the secretary job he gave me - nothing, I don't have time!! Poor guy. Michele came over and we played ping pong and I won her 3 games in a row and I saw Dwight S. That's the guy I want next year out at MBA. But he doesn't know that. hee hee hee.

PS we got 5 people on my brothers motorcycle tonight - Dan, me, my brother, Michele, and Mark on the light.

Today was a great improvement over yesterday, really. Me and Steve made an agreement that we wouldn't be like yesterday.

Would you believe, I'm all caught up in Bookkeeping. Wow, it took a lot of effort, that's a cinch. In study hall, we got out a little early, so I was playing ping pong with Steven, and I was doing really good for me. The score was 17-21 and I was ahead most of the time. I think he was slightly shocked, but so was I. In Biology, we had the big test on the frog and I think everybody wiped out real good, including me.

After school, I typed for Richard, then I came home and took a shower and ate and went to Arvie's meeting. It was real good I thought. Afterwards when Richard took me home, we sat and talked for a great while and it was beautiful, you know! Well, I'll close - Bi! Time is 11:35 and I'm not even undressed yet.

May 20
I had to play the piano this morning for the Juniors and then I had to be superintendent for the Youth. Wow, Richard gave special music and it was real good, then he had to leave and sing in a concert at S Church. So I sat with Michele for a change.

After church, Richard called and asked me to go to Monterey with him, because he had to sing in another concert, so I agreed and he picked me up and we got lost (normal), but I saw Mr. B, so we followed their car and made it ok. After he sang, they did really good, we walked down to the beach (Lover's Lane), and had fun there. Then we were looking at all the cool houses and we found "our" house - it was called "the Playhouse" and it was real cute.

On the way back we went into a Catholic church to see what it was like. It was cool. Then we went back to SC to vespers, but we were late, in fact it was over. So we went to the VHM program - a farewell to our Principal. They got a trip to the Holy Land - all expenses paid - cool! Richard was tired, so he left as soon as we got there and Mike C sat by me, but later he sat by Donna, so I sat alone, until Jimmy K "the freak" sat by me and finally he left. I got real tired, so I went home so I could go to bed "early". I got in bed at 11:00, then mom came in and fretted over dad until 11:30. Cool. I was a little mad!!!!!

May 21
Rush, rush, rush all day long and I still didn't get anything done! I got up at 9:30 and I still didn't want to, but I did because I wanted to get everything finished. Anyway, I started with the sheets and I wanted to water the lawn, but dad didn't put the hoses out until 10:00 and I was sooo mad. Then I went out and got a lot of leaves, etc. and tried to classify them, but I gave up. And then I made my bed. Then I went to S to play tennis with Ed. I stopped at Sears to look around first though. Then I went to S and we had to wait a whole hour to play. Ed left at 4:00, so we only played for an hour, but that wore me out. I went home and sorted material. Then dad called and wanted me to go help Miss Z decorate the gym for investiture, so I did that, and I went home and sorted material again. Richard called and asked me if I was busy and I said yes, very. And he said he wanted to know, because he wanted to play tennis, but he remembered that I already did. Then Michele and Donna came over and Richard talked to them too. They wanted me to go to investigure, but I said no and ended up going anyway. It was boring. Then I took a shower and I'll go to bed. It's 10:45.

May 22
Only 12 days of school left - yahoo! Because we get out on the 8th instead of the 9th, but that means more work! But it will be worth it. Steven didn't come to school today, because it is his 16th birthday (whoopie). We were all going to go and drag him out of bed, but we didn't have any transportation, so we didn't luck out there.

After school today instead of reading, I decided to do homework, so I did until mom came home. Then I finished putting material away, but my room is still a mess! But I had to go to the library to get some books on trees, which is too much. Then I had to help my dad get groceries, which was also way too much. Right now, I want to go to bed. It's 9:30. I didn't get to see Richard. Sigh.

May 23
Steven came to school today. One year and one day older. He had on a new outfit that he got. It looked really good. In PE today, we had to play a game, and what a wipe-out. Donna was all mad and crying etc. Oh well, that's her problem. Oh, how could I forget, the practice sets came today for Bookkeeping. It's a two month practice set and we only have 2 weeks to do them in! Sick! And it's hard! A lot worse that the other one. Three people get to take the other one over, Yvonne, Nanette, and Sue, because they would wipe-out so bad on it, if they took it. In Biology, we had a huge test, which I didn't study for and I got the highest score ! (shock). Our prayer meeting was good. Our central prayer figure is Bev's mother MA. After the meeting Richard helped me with Bookkeeping. I really needed help!

May 24

Only 9 more days of school left!!! Not really that much time to get caught up on.

In the afternoon, Michele, Donna, and I got out of Bookkeeping and Biology because of the annual mystery trip, which is for those who made it to so many PTA meetings. We went down to the roller rink here in SC and I got a size 4 skate! They fit OK, except on one, the wheels were big and on the other one they were little, and it wasn't too cool. Anyway, it was kinda hot, not bad, but bad enough. In triples Donna and I asked Melvin and he agreed, then in couples, for a joke kinda, I asked Mike T a 7th grader to skate and he agreed - I was so surprized! He only fell 3 times. That's not nice - it was fun. Afterwards they gave us an ice-cream sandwich and Michele gave me hers that's 2 m-m-m-m- good!

In PE our team didn't play (hallelujah), so we got to play on the bars in the gym. It was fun, oh my aching hands.

After school, dad came in and we went to W to see about a job for me (picking berries). Gurnees doesn't take pickers anymore, so we went to this other guy, and he has good berries! And he will call when they start picking. Then we went to MBA, but they were closed, so no luck there.

Richard came over and we went to Prayer Meeting in S. That was over at 8:00, so we went to the one in SC, that was real good! Then he helped me with Bookkeeping until 11:30. I'm soooo tired!!!!

May 25
Eight days of school left!!!! Today was rather boring actually, so I took it easy. Oh, I forgot to tell about Cindy and my fight. That was yesterday and EW gave us a 200 word theme, but we didn't write, so it's 250 now, sick. I know I'll never get it done.

In Bookkeeping, I took SG 32 a wipe out and Mr. H gave us our grades. I'm getting a B in Bookkeeping and I'm 2nd in Biology. Pretty good there! After school, I worked on Bookkeeping a little, then Sue called and asked me to the little league game at Green Acres, so I took a shower and went. I just about froze, so I came home at 7:00. When I got there, Richard came over while I was eating, but Ed called and Rich left to go shopping. Shit, I wanted to go with him. Anyway, he came back and we did Bookkeeping until 9:30 and talked until after 11:00, it was a beautiful experience, but tiring.

May 26
FRIDAY! But I was depressed all day, so it was sickening. I guess it was the talk Richard and I had. I don't know how to put it into words, so I won't.

In Chapel today Pastor M gave it and he recited this poem, and it was kinda sad like and I almost started crying, but refrained myself. The rest of school was sick. I went home and Cheryle came over until 5:15 and I wasn't feeling very sociable, so I was laying down while she read. Then at 5:30, I went to Long's and got the pictures and some other stuff. I took a shower and then Richard's mom called and asked me if I wanted to talk to Richard and I said yes, although I really didn't want to. It was a sick conversation. At 9:00 the new 1st and 5th grade teachers and their daughter (about my age) came and I talked to them for awhile.

May 27
What a rotten and yet wonderful day. I was sick this morning, so I didn't go to church or anything. I rested and then I did some reading. Richard came over in the afternoon, and since I was feeling a little better, I went with him to Henry Cowell's State Park for all afternoon, and we were talking etc., It was beautiful!! Then he took me home and I went and got some more rest. He came over again to take me to vespers, but I didn't go. Michele called and we had a nice chat, then I ate and now I will go to bed, it's a little after 9:00, well 9:20 really. Night and I hope I feel better tomorrow.

I was busy today and yet I did nothing! Absolutely nothing! I got up rather early to water the lawn, etc. and Cherri, the girl with the teachers, came out and we were talking, and then her mom asked me if I wanted to go with them to look at houses and I said "sure". Since there isn't any school tomorrow, and because I didn't think we would be gone long. Well, we were gone until 5:00. Then I took a quick shower and then Richard came over and we went to look for a tennis court. They were all full, so we went up by SCHS and the University. So I decided to show him Steven's house. He wasn't there luckily, but I saw their two (Lincoln) Continentals, Steve's dog "King" and his dad. Cool, I got all turned on of course. I think they painted their house. Then we played tennis at SCHS until 8:30, then Richard ate with me and he helped me with Bookkeeping. Very good! Bye - it's 11:00

May 29
I got up at 8:30 and watered the lawn. My stomach was hurting pretty bad, but I couldn't do anything about it, so I started my homework. Michele called and asked me to go the Monastery with her (an abandoned building). I said "sure"- even though I didn't and shouldn't have taken the time. I met her at the S church and we walked down the creek. (Oh wait this morning, I went with my mom to a craft show in C - it was pretty good). Anyway, when we got there these two strange boys were there, and they kept following us, etc. The place where we went in before, was boarded up, so we found another place - a real small window, and I made it through and then one of the guys (he had B.O. something royal) helped Michele up, and then the littlest guy got in - but the bigger guy didn't fit, so the little guy left and my dream of 3 years came true! Going through the Monastery at last!!! And I wasn't even scared considering all the rumors. It wasn't really all that grand - I guess, I expected more. We kept looking at the guys and making fun of them. They got a little pushed, but couldn't do anything about it, so they left. After awhile we got bored (it would be cool to go at night!!) Wow! Anyway we left without any mishaps, and looked around at Disco's and then I dripped my candle on the steps at S chruch - shame shame. We departed and I visited Sue and told her all my adventures and she told me hers. Then I went home and ate and learned how to crochet. Good crochet - not sick crochet, and I made my doll "a" bootie. I'll make the other tomorrow. Boo Hoo, Richard didn't call. Oh yes, the reason I didn't go to school is because it is Memorial Day - also Ed's birthday.

Back to school, yeck. I could stay home forever I think. We were supposed to have a Religion test today, but we got out of it, phew! What a relief. EW also forgot about the theme, but I'm still crossing my fingers. After school today, all I did was Bookkeeping and more bookkeeping. And everything is coming out OK (shock). That sure makes me feel great.

Richard came over and we had a real good meeting in the library and then he took everybody home. He then came back here and proceeded to help me with Bookkeeping, but I didn't want to because I was tired of it. So I was crocheting and he was tired and I didn't want to make it worse, so I showed him my stamp album. He thought that was great. Then he gave me a back rub that couldn't be beat and went home, sigh. What beautiful experiences.

May 31
The last day of May! I got a letter from Uwe! Hallelujah! He sent a pretty long letter and quite an enjoyable one at that. We had that stupid Religion test today that everybody flunked (except Donna). Oh well, I guess, I don't really care that much. In Biology, Mr. H is having us write a report on "What would happen if all the rodent preditors were killed" There are some pretty wild stories, but Steven's is the best one I read. In PE we got to play on the rings and that was a real blast!

After school, I worked on Bookkeeping, until I got stuck, then I crocheted. Then I took a shwwer and ate and Richard came over and we went to Prayer Meeting - it was real good! Afterwards we went to SC chuuch so he could get his Bible. Then we studied Bookkeeping until that got sick, so we just talked. He is leaving for his brother Bill's graduation Friday. I won't see him until Monday or Tuesday, so when he left, he kissed me (ecstasy). I was a little surprised.

WOW What a Day!!!! Even if it was April Fool's Day, but I didn't play any April Fool jokes on anybody and they didn't play any on me. It was just a normal Saturday. I had to play the piano for the Junior Room. I guess I didn't do too bad. Then I went in and sat by Richard, while Donna sang and the group "All For God". They did pretty good. In church I sat by Richard in the 3rd from the front row - again. And Steven was there and afterwards, I waved to him. Wow - oops, I'd better watch it.

In the afternoon, I went on singing bands until 6:00 and Rich had to leave early for some reason? Then we went to the H's house and I found out that after I left that Richard came - oh well. Marla is back and she still has a crush on him. OK. There was a big skating party for the S.C. youth and Cindy N was there and so was Richard and he hardly paid any attention to her at all. It was an absolute blast. He left here at about 11:45 - he didn't kiss me - almost.

April 2
I slept in quite late for all the noise that was going on. I had to water the Dorcas lawn, oh well, I guess it's not that bad. While I was doing that, I was putting together the jigsaw puzzle and I finished that and read 6 more chapters in Leviticus. I should be finished with it tomorrow. I didn't do anything else, unless you call taking a shower something else.

Oh yes, I went to Sue's and we went to Terry's to watch TV and he wasn't home, but we went anyway and watched all kinds of good movies. Then Terry came in stoned (drunk). Wow - I mean phew. They took me home and I go here at 11:30 and I was locked out, so I started pounding on the back door and I think my mom was a little mad, but she didn't say much. Jenny is still here, I guess she'll go back home tomorrow.

April 3
School! The very thought turns my skin. Well, everybody was there except Steven, not too unusual, and Yvonne and Nanette. It was just a normal school day really. We had our desks all turned around and I am in the front corner and Steven is right by me. I got a little mad, and Mr. Mc goes "When did all this happen?" It kind of embarassed me.

Mr. H sprained his foot - or broke it, I don't know yet, anyway he had ice and it started dripping, it was funny. In PE we sat around and picked teams. I'm on Donna's team. I guess it's pretty good. I haven't decided yet.

After school, I finished reading Leviticus. And mom and dad didn't come home, so I had to fix taco's and then there was a big hassle over how Jenny was getting home (they thought she had missed her ride) and I wanted to go to the library. Then Richard came over and everything was OK. We went to the school library and goofed off.

April 4
I ate a new sensation today - watermelon ice cream - yum! yum!

Well, Mr. H was walking on crutches all day, it was funny, but probably not to him. Oh, I don't feel like writing in here - what a drag, but I guess it is good to write things like this down. Mike C got sick and went home and then Sue got sick and went home and everybody was getting sick. Funny. In PE today we had good teams and our team won. Donna's very good!

After school Ranele came over to hem her skirt and left and when she left, she left her money, but she came back later and got it. I read 9 chapters in Numbers today. Then Donna and Marla came over and we got some candy, etc. I'm off my diet starting today, and I must celebrate. They had kind of a formal PTA banquet at the school tonight, and Richard came over and him, me, and Marla went to play tennis and while there we found out that Mike had appendicitis and was in surgery! Then we went to the library and got something for the Talent Program.

April 5
Today was kind of a wacky day really. We had Talent Program auditions, and at the last minute we got 10 girls together to sing "Darling You Can't Love One". I don't know if they liked it or not. And then later in PE they called Cheryle out to do our "Three Bears" pantomime, and they thought it was really cute. I think it's sick myself.

After school, Michele trimmed my hair and while I was listening to records, Donna came over and told me about her visit to see Mike and she said he's doing beautifully. That's good and I hope he loses some weight and keeps it down.

I'm really ashamed, I didn't read 1 thing out of the Bible today. And I was going to and Richard called and wanted me to go to prayer meeting with him, so I did, on the condition that he help me with my Bookkeeping, so he did, but not much and I'm falling asleep - z-z-z-z-z-z!!!!

April 6
I had a test in English, I don't know what I got, a test in Algebra, I didn't finish. And I actually figured the Bookkeeping out, in fact, I was the first one finished. I wore my knickers today and I popped a button, I can't figure out how though? Well, there goes a $.15 button, that I have to get.

I got my report card and I got 3 A's. I was supposed to get 4 and all the rest were B's - not bad. So I got 3 dollars. In Biology we took another test, and was it ever easy. We also checked some 8th grade Religion tests. I didn't do PE today and Cheryle and I practiced for the Talent Program.

After school, Donna came over and we called Steven to find out what was wrong. We talked for quite awhile and he did most of the talking. I haven't gone to visit Mike yet, I hope I can tomorrow. I got him a real cute card.

We went to Penny's and my mom got me all kinds of material, but none for the banquet. I don't know what to get! I didn't see Richard at all today, shock!

April 7
Mike got out of the hospital today. I really feel bad because I didn't get to see him, but he got my card and he thought it was real cute. The reason I know that is because Marla called and we were talking and then I talked to him on the phone.

Richard called and offered to take me to Arvie's, but he couldn't go because of a choir practice. Mike came and so we drove real slow and Arvie was gone and Darrel was gone, etc., so we went to the church to listen to a rehearsal and Arvie etc. was there - sick. Oh well, it was a very good day.

April 8
Today was Church and I had to play the piano for the special music, which was by Becky T. a 4 year old. She sang "Jesus Loves Me" and she was nervous, it was real cute. Richard sat by me in church school, but he had special music for church - he played his sax (saxophone), and since so many people were there, I guess he didn't see me, so he sat by himself. I didn't talk to him afterwards, so he called and I went to Pathfinder singing bands with him. Cindy N was there, but whoopie. And I took some pictures of him. After that we had to take Chet home and we stayed there for a short visit, then we went to Wally Pecks and handed out (religious) magazines, and then we went to the movie "The Young American's" it was really good. Afterwards he took some kids home and we went to his house and ate popcorn and looked at his school Annual's until 11:30.

April 9
Sigh. Everybody got me up sooo early this morning. I washed my sheets and made by bed etc. , but I couldn't find the broom, which made me rather aggravated! My brother wanted to go down to Arroyo Grande to go to a banquet with his girlfriend tonight at 6:30 and then come back up - sick! But before he left, I made him take Sue & me & Kim to the fabric place to get material for my banquet dress. My mom only gave me $10 and I was so mad, so I put in 4 of my own dollars and $20 of my dad's (I had to give him $15 back) and I got a good pattern and velveteen turquois material and it cost $16 something. Since my brother left, I had to walk home, but it's not really that far. I cut out the material and then I went to Sue's and we watched TV until 11:30 - I'm very tired!

April 10
Wow, was I ever tired today! I almost didn't make it through the day and on top of all that Steven came to school, whoopie. He makes me sick, the way he acts and talks like he's number one big stuff. He runs around with a guy called Steve and I think he is a bad influence. Anyway, the first thing he did was see the banquet notice, and he goes "oh no, I have a feeling it's going to be one of those days" Which I thought was funny, but it still made me mad! They had Talent Program practice today, so I got out of Bookkeeping, whoopie!

After school, I worked on my dress until I got tired and then I went over to see how the Pathfinders were doing. And I got so mad at Richard the way he acts makes me so mad!!!!!! Bye - I'm going to bed now, yawn.

April 11
I was depressed in school all day today, so it was boring and OH Yes! how could I forget? I went to a concert - a Classical Guitar Concert (Cheryle invited me) at the Civic Auditorium. Christopher Parking. It was good. Cindy N was there and I saw Richard's mom. Beautiful.

April 12
What a DAY! The 8th graders went on a field trip and ALL the girls wore pant suits, and Mr H starts a big stink, I thought it was rather funny, but they still got to go and the 7th graders went on a 1/2 day field trip and the 5/6 graders went on a field trip and everybody went on a field trip but us! SICK, we never do anything, we just do the same things over and over.

Well, we had a riot today anyway. In Drivers Ed, we had a test (from the DMV - THE test). and I missed more than anybody. I missed 7; you have to miss 5 or less to pass. It also rained a lot today. Miss Z had our Bookkeeping class, and that was a riot and EW had our Biology class and that was a worse riot. In PE it was a free period and all we did was goof off and Otis kept chasing me and Steven zonked me in the eyeball with his elbow, it hurt a little, I guess.

After school, I finished my dress and it looks beautiful! I just hope Richard likes it. He called tonight and wanted me to go to prayer meeting. I didn't want to see him for a week, because I think I was getting tired of him, but I didn't have the heart to refuse, so I went and everything was beautiful. Michele finally asked SH and he can't go because he has to work (to the banquet), but at least she asked him, you know.

April 13
Blah! Is the only way to describe how I feel now. Michele and Cindy and Cheryle were all sick today, and I sat in everybody else's desk but my own. And Steven kept talking, and talking to me, and I wasn't even listening. Oh well. He hates his hair, which I consider his best asset. So I told him I found two black hairs in his head, and he does, it kinda got to him though, I think. During lunch, I called Michele and then I called Cheryle, and then I went back to school and I was playing the drums in the gym until the bell rang, and then I had to hussle to Bookkeeping for a test , which everybody, including me, wiped out on. Then we had to practice for the Talent Program, which will be a wipe-out if Cheryle doesn't hussle!

I went shopping tonight and I got two record albums, Partridge Family "Shopping Bag" with "It's Been One of Those Nights" and Andy Williams "Greatest Hits" which is pretty good.

April 14
Donna came over this morning and she really likes my dress a lot. The reason she came over is because she thought the door was locked, but it wasn't. We had chapel today - Dr. S (Dentist)and the teeth bit. I guess it was ok. At lunch, I called Cheryle and we talked for awhile, and then I went to the school and took a bunch of pictures of the guys playing baseball. In Biology, we watched a movie and set chairs up for the Talent Program, and then went home. I finished the Book of Joshua. Sue and I were listening to records and then I hemmed my dress and took a shower, etc. This man came to the Dorcas to get some food, but we couldn't get ahold of anyone to help , so we gave him some.

Richard called and offered to take me to Arvie's, but I declined, my dad took me, and when Richard got there I hid and he was going to call me on the phone, and I popped out. He sat by Marla, and she hung on to him like he was going out of style. When it came time to pray, I was too busy thinking about that, so I messed the prayer up and everybody was laughing, and I could have bawled, I was so embarassed. After the prayer (Marla and Kim held hands with Richard) Marla goes "did I squeeze your hand, I'm sorry" and I was so mad, I just sat there and Richard was leaving and he asked me if I wanted to go and I just sat there, so he came over and made me go. He had to go to the church and practice and I tracked mud in the church, and I had to clean it up and I felt SOOO awful. Then we left to get Kim and on the way back Richard goes "I think I'm losing you - or you're already lost" because I sat in the back seat and I said No-No and all the way back he was flirting with Kim and I almost bawled - he took me home first.

April 15
Wow! Today was one of the best in my history. I was feeling kinda low because of last night. So I almost didn't go to church, so I said to myself "why not?" and I got up and dressed, etc. and I noticed a florist truck outside and I go "Richard must be sending me flowers, but whatever for?" and I didn't think any more about it. Then my dad came up and gave me the florist box with 2 beautiful orchids - Oh, I felt so awful about last night. And so happy about today! The note said "With Love - Richard" and then "Please wear them to Church". So I did.

I had to play the piano for the Juniors and then I gave the Mission Story and everything was groovy!! Steven was there but SK wasn't, but Klaus, Steven's brother, who is in the army, was. And wow! - Oh Drool!!!! Well, anyway, right after I ate dinner, I was changing my clothes and Richard and his mom came driving up and he asked me to go pick up acorns with the SC group - so I said OK, and we dropped his mom off and he dropped me off at the church and he went to visit Mike W at the jail, then we all went to get acorns, but since it is the wrong time of the year, we didn't find any, so we were just goofing off - holding hands, etc. and then we were fighting (goofing off) and my glasses got all bent out of shape - but I fixed them. Then we went to vespers (I was wearing pants) The Sonora group "Good News Singers" had it and it was pretty good. Then we didn't have a ride home, so his mom came and picked us up and dropped me at home so I could get ready for the Talent Program (I wore my knickers). Oh man, it was so good - and I wasn't scared at all because I just did it for fun, you know. And we didn't goof-up at all - very good. Afterwards Richard took me home and everything was groovy - except MARLA, but that's another story in itself - a sick story - so I'll try and forget it.

April 16
I got up at 9:00 and took an "early" shower and when I got out I curled my hair. Then I cleaned my room and did my homework and read my Bible. I was just about ready to fall asleep, when the telephone rang and Cheryle wanted me to go help her decorate for the banquet, which we did. I figured out the table arrangement (with the faculty in the middle) and the place cards, and I made sure Marla was someplace else.

What a Banquet. It was really a great banquet. The banquet was a girl ask guy one - plus a birthday and a going away party for our school principal. He really appreciated it a lot, I could tell. The Maranatha Singers sang, and since they are a religious group, they sang religious and secular songs, both. It was really nice, and when they went to cut the cake etc. The principal's grandchildren sang him a song, it was cute. After it was over, we all stayed to clean up and Michele , who has hypogycemia and she can't eat wheat, ate the frosting, and I ate the cake - about 7 pieces - until Richard came to the rescue - Wow, It was funny!

Somebody asked me to vacuum, so I said OK, but Richard wouldn't let me. Well, anyway, he took me home and we looked through my scrap book and picture album and then he left - he almost kissed me, but I guess he changed his mind, shucks!

April 17
I got industrious for awhile and decided to find out what Mike is doing, so I wrote him a letter.

School, blah, I was bored "all" day, and not because Steven was gone - it's his week to be sick. I guess it's just the Monday morning blues! The frogs for Biology came today, and we have to start taking them apart on Friday, yeck and tomorrow, we go to the slaughter house - yeck!

After school, I finished reading Judges. It was pretty good - better than Joshua, and then since I was so tired, I dozed off for awhile. Then I got up to get ready for the party. Yvonne's surprise birthday party. My brother took me. I gave her a mug, and she liked it a lot. Sharon and Cheryle both got her the same thing, but that's ok. We then ate a delicious cake, and potato chips etc. More than I should have, that's a cinch. Afterwards we listened to records and then Michele took me home, and I went over to the Pathfinders and played ping pong with Ricky and he left at 1/2 11 (11:30).

What a gorey day, yeck. I read the book of Ruth this morning, since it is so short, and then I went over to the school and hardly anybody came and I didn't expect that many, especially not Steven, who came in at 9:30, I didn't even look up and then there he was - I almost fainted. At 12:30 Mr H. had us all go to the slaugher house (Beef) in W and I never saw anything so gruesome in all my life - I'll never forget it and I'll probably have nightmares! and the disinfectant smell - if I ever smell that smell again, I know I'll barf - it is that rank! Steven said he wanted to become a vegetarian - but I doubt if he will. I think he took it pretty well. Sue got sick and started crying, etc. And I went to her house afterwards and we played chess, etc. Then I went home and took a shower to get rid of the smell. Richard called and I talked to him for awhile and then went to the library with my brother.

April 19
Last night they had a dinner at the school here and Michele's mom and Mrs. B. both got food poisoning, or so the rumor goes. Michele's mom was at the hospital until 3:00 in the morning. Mrs. B didn't come to school today, so I don't know what happened. Everybody else was at school today, except Debbie and she got sick.

We had the big final Drivers Ed test today and I missed 11 altogether on a 4 page test and I don't think that was too bad, considering.

After school today, I got a letter from Mike. Oh No, our letters must have crossed in the mail. That's what happened last time, and we stopped writing - better luck this time. He sent me a picture. It's a pretty good one too! I went to S prayer meeting tonight with Michele. Richard went to SC and I wore new perfume and wore my hair different and wore a special dress for him. I had to play the piano - yeck, but I didn't do too bad. Michele took me home, even if my dad was waiting for me. Richard called and I talked to him for about an hour, when I should have been studying - oh well, it was worth it!

April 20
Oh ick - we had to have a Religion test today. A real hard one too, and I'm sure I flunked. My dad found Richard's coat today, and I don't know when I can give it to him - maybe tomorrow night? In Bookkeeping, Mr H was gone and we had Mrs. K. It was a riot - we didn't have any Biology today because San Gabriel A Chorale was here and they gave us a program. It was OK. After awhile they sang some secular songs including "Lemon Tree" the one I always had Richard sing for me. I like it lots. Allen K threw the ball at them because a bunch of kids got together and said they would give him $2.00 each if he would do it. What a moron! We had a free period for PE and we played ping pong. I almost won every game. Not bad. I fixed Debbie some popcorn and it was funny! We didn't go shopping tonight because mom was tired from doing State tests all day - sigh!

April 21
Steven came to school today, and he had his hair trimmed a little bit for $3.00. I think that's outrageous! We didn't have any English or Literature today, because Mr. Mc got carried away with all his gorey war stories. He talked the whole time. In study hall today, I was doing my Bookkeeping and everybody else was playing baseball, so Steven comes in and asks me to play ping pong with him - it must have killed him and I almost died.

In Biology we have to disect a frog and since nobody else would, I said I would and so I had to be a group leader. Sue and Sharon are on my team. We named our frog George, although we don't know the sex yet. I think it's kind of fun! Strange.

All afternoon I had to cook, because Richard is coming for dinner tomorrow. He called and we tried to get a meeting going, but it failed. So we had one by ourselves. We looked at stars on the SC lookout and then we studied in the ? (can't read my writing) - it's 12:00 so I'll go.

April 23
I wanted to sleep in really late this morning, but my dad comes barging in at 8:00 and told me to water the lawn. I was so mad, I got up at 9:00 and then I had to wait until 10:00 to water because it takes Mr. Mc 2 hours to wash the bus, so I was in a bad mood.

I did my Geometry and that's all I felt like doing. I took my turtle collection to the hobby fair and set them up and then I came home and wrote down a bunch of recipes. Then Michele came over and we went to the fair and bummed around. Bore, bore. I got 3rd prize for my turtles, because I am an older student and I won first last year and they thought a younger student should get it because it would be easier for me to take, etc. etc. I don't really care, but I did eat too much - eck! and Terry - the neighbor girl said"wow, you sure lost a lot of weight" and I was shocked, but that was a beautiful compliment.

April 24
What a boring school day! Steven came and we didn't have Drivers Education, although we did go to the office to get a pink slip showing that you passed Drivers Education. Now all I need is Drivers Training and I can get my license!

I have a feeling this pen is going dry! And I love it so much. I think I will get another one like it. Anyway, after school I read II Samuel and re-copied my notebook. I took in my pants and they fit fine!

Richard and Cheryle came over and I showed Richard the letter from Yellowknife (Canada) and I gave him the 2 donuts I saved and he gave me a pack of gum in exchange, then he asked me to play ping pong with him after Pathfinders and we did until 11:00 and then he left at 11:30 and I am dog tired!

April 25
I got a 10th grade picture of Richard today. Mr Mc had one - so I took it. And he is a doll!!!! (I still carry this picture in my wallet). I love him so much. I don't think he realizes.

Oh blast - I don't feel like writing in this stupid book. Nothing interesting happened today, anyway. I guess I just feel depressed and I feel like withdrawing myself and not talking to anybody. I just hate the whole world today! And it's beautiful. It's almost 8:00 and I believe I will go to bed early tonight. Have fun reading this. But I am awfully bored and don't feel like writing. I feel like I'm going berzerk and my writing looks like it too!

April 26
I got so mad today! You wouldn't believe. This morning Mr H and Mr Mc came in the room and told us to get out and then they turned all the desks around and spread them way out so we couldn't talk and I sit right in front of that basses desk - oh well. In Religion class, we are watching the movie "Martin Luther". It's about the 4th time I've seen it, but I don't mind, because I think it is sooo good.

In Biology we had to take our frogs apart (George) and he was all frozen, so we got to work outside and he is different than all the other frogs - it's really weird.

After school, I painted some worms for my mom and then Richard called and we went to prayer meeting at S, and he didn't call Marla and she wasn't there. Good. I had to play the piano again. After prayer meeting, this lady came up and asked us who we were etc. And then she asked Ricky if I was "his little wife" and he said "No, just my girlfriend." It's so funny, because that's the second time somebody has said something like that. He laughed and said to me "Do you think they're trying to tell us something?"

April 27
I think Richard took off with my pen, but that's OK because it is almost dry - even if it is my favorite one. Steven didn't come to school today, so it was rather blah. In Religion we watched some more of Martin Luther, but not all of it. Ummm, In Biology we had to take a test which everybody flunked. I bet except maybe Donna, and she doesn't flunk anything, impossible. In PE we were to play a game, but Sheri and I played a game of ping pong and she won, and I played Mike a game and he won - so I think I will give up. After school Michele came over to visit me and then Sue came over and we played ping pong, I swear the more I play it - the more I hate it!

I was surprised Richard called on a Thursday night and he wanted to come over at 9:00 because a man was coming to visit his mom, and I guess he doesn't dig on him too much, anyway I had to go shopping first, and I got a bunch of junk.

My brother and Miss Z went down to Los Angeles together this weekend, so she can see about a job in San Gabriel - at the school where the choir that sang last week is from. Anyway Richard came over and showed me the banquet pictures etc. he took, it was ok. He really likes it a lot though, I guess. We went to the library to study "The Word" as Richard calls it. I better go to bed. It's nearly 12:00 - I have to get up to say bye to Richard.

April 28
In some ways this was a good day, and in some ways it was a bad day. It was a bad day because Richard left for the weekend. He is going on the Pathfinder Camporee and I shall miss him horribly. He got me this black pen I'm using now, because my old one went dry, and a pack of gum. Have fun Richard!

Steven came to school today. I was a little bit surprized. Anyway, there were only 6 in our class today, so we had a spelling Bee and I won! (schock!) Then while everybody else played baseball, Steve and I played ping pong, and I was doing pretty well, I guess, better than yesterday, that's a cinch. We got out at 12:00 because of Pathfinders. So I went home and did the dishes and I had to go tell my dad something and Mr Mc had me grade some papers for him. It's good experience really. I went to the Civic Auditorium to hear Br. Andrew, author of "God's Smuggler" It was very good, and I sure wish Richard could have been there, because he would have liked it lots!

April 29
I went to church today and had to play the piano for the Juniors. Then I went in and had to play the piano for the Youth and I really wiped out because I can't play from that book. I sat with Cindy and Michele. My pen just gave up - good old faithful. I guess I'll have to have a funeral for it. I sat in the balconey for church - just like old times. And after church, I just kinda goofed off and read in the Bible and some other religious books and marked them all up, etc. After that I went with dad to get some water at a spring. Then I went over for skating and hardly anybody was there, so it was rather boring. I just goofed off. Then GJ a missionary's kid - I think they're here on furlough - he's really short and in the 7th grade. He comes to math at school and that's all. He has that in the 10th grade study period. Anyway he's really cute, but that's all and since I was so bored, I started following him, etc. It was fun, but very tiring, I believe. It would have been so fun if Richard were there. Oh boo hoo and he is probably having a blast - sigh. I'll see him tomorrow? maybe. Anyway, I have zillions of things to tell him. The time goes up 1 hour tonight so it's 11:30 (10:30 old time), so I'll sack out.

April 30
What an absolutely wasted day - wow! I got up at 9:00 and watered the Dorcas lawn and I didn't do one cotton picking thing. I didn't sweep my floor or do any homework - anything. I read in my Bible and then I painted some bookworm bookends for my mom and then I read in another book and fell asleep, but it got sooo hot, I got up and went downstairs and listened to records. Oh yes, I took some film down to Long's and got some new film - for the school picnic - May 10. I think I should catch up on the times. I'm glad this is the last day of April. I only have to struggle through 1 month and a week more of school. Hallelujia!! I was hoping I could see Richard, but no luck. So I went to Sue's and we went to Terry's and watched TV until now - 11:15 and I am tired as you can tell by my writing----
